A few things I would like to point out are when you say, "When one sees this, or when one reads that" it gets kind of redundant. You might want to change to just "when looking at this, or in reading this" or something like that. It's better to have a little diversity in your essay then to say the same thing again and again. I know it is a minor detail, but it kind of got a little annoying..no offense. All in all though, this was a great essay. I learned a little bit about Poe's childhood from this essay which is what you want. Critics after Poe's death have argued whether they should respect Poe's work based on his experiences or based on just his talent.
